Our Leader here at the Teddy Bear Foundation, Dr. Shaheda Omar, has had several interviews addressing this issue. We at TBF believe that the approach of bringing boys and men on board is through deliberations, discussions, and dialogue platforms on different tiers.
Firstly, to address young children from the moment they develop vocabulary on understanding their rights and responsibilities unlearning stereotypes and learning new gender norms dismantling patriarchy. This approach has been extended to older children, adolescents, and male adults out in the communities and even in the workplace.
Women who are the primary nurturers and caregivers have also been engaged in dialogues as they are the socializers of children and are often responsible for feeding into patriarchal norms. Our interventions are challenging both males and females on previously accepted norms and values and awakening them to a new level of insight and understanding.
